In the last post What’s the Online Presence You’re Striving For?, I talked about the importance of asking yourself some foundational questions, so that you can ensure that what you’re getting into has the potential to be hugely successful.
The basic is this: anything that you feel passionate about has a much greater potential and chance for being successful and profitable than something you don’t feel emotionally in a positive way connected to, and have no passion for.
So, it’s actually very simple. You will do much better when you chose to create your online presence based upon your passions.
Here is a quick reminder of the questions discussed last time:
What do I love to do? What do I feel passionate about? What are my strengths? What are my interests? Who am I? Why am I here? What am I supposed to be doing with my life? What would I love to do, and who would I love to be perceived as, with the kind of value I know I have in me to provide?
If you haven’t answered these questions yet, please do so now. You will thank me later that I insisted you do.
If you did answer them, congratulations. You still might want to review them one more time and answer them again.
Here is how I answered some of the questions above that helped me realize what I’m called to do next online, which I will be sharing with you in the following posts and help you come to you own unique conclusion as well.
Read my answers and realize that answering these questions isn’t hard at all, you just have to take the time for it and have the knowing that doing it is essential for a good and successful start in any new venture.
So here are my answers, and maybe you could find some things in common, or discover something about you that you never thought of before.
What do I love to do? (this is a very important question because when you realize what you love to do, and you start doing what you love to do, then life and work will become much easier, enjoyable and fun for you)
I love to grow, I love to learn and develop new skills and I love to see myself making progress. I love to work, create and succeed and then celebrate my successes.
What do I feel passionate about? I found out that while I am passionate about many things I feel very strongly about entrepreneurship. I am passionate about being an entrepreneur, working for myself and being able to inspire others to do the same. I am passionate about spreading the word of how empowering being an entrepreneur is for me and other people. I feel passionate about being a part of the growing Global Entrepreneurial movement and helping it to keep on going with an accelerated speed. (if you need more help with this important question, check out my video at the bottom of this post)
What are my strengths? (lot’s of times we look more closely at our weaknesses and forget about all the things that we are great at, and so answering this question is a wonderful way to get a reminder and add some positive affirmations to your process of creating a new online presence) I find that I have many strengths, and some of them are my creativity, dedicated commitment, ability to follow through, my writing skills, my management skills, being perceptive, having great sense of logic, but also being very intuitive and following my intuition, being good in front of the camera, my absolutely amazing networking and connecting skills, believing in myself.
What are my interests? My biggest interests lately are inspirational and personal development materials, learning about marketing, business, and being a successful entrepreneur. I have many other interests like being healthy and doing sports, dancing, reading, listening to music, hiking, educational TV channels like Discovery, or PBS and of course traveling.
Who am I? Why am I here? What am I supposed to be doing in my life?
I see all of these three questions related to each other in that they are all a bit deeper and are directing us to look a bit more internally.
One of the things that I teach is that we all have an internal and external brand. We can change the word brand with other words like passion, purpose, calling and it would still work and mean the same.
Our Internal Brand is something that’s embedded in us and is there with us to stay for the rest of our lives. It’s our deep desire to contribute, to make a difference and love. Our External Brand is something that may change, depending on where we are in the moment. It could be there with us for the rest of our lives or it could change after a year, or five years. It is driven by our internal brand and it’s the external tool we use to live up to that internal purpose or passion that we have. And I will be talking a lot more about this in the future.
So for instance I answered the three questions above in just one sentence and I feel strongly that it’s also what my internal brand/passion/purpose actually is.
I am here to love, live, contribute and have a positive impact in the world.
This stays with me no matter what I do externally. My external passion is here to help me accomplish my internal purpose that is summarized in the sentence above.
And so my external brand can change depending on what’s going on and where I am in the moment.
So based on these answers next time I will be choosing my niche and talking more about how I decide what is my external brand or in other words my new online presence I’m in the process of developing.
I will be answering more in depth the last question: What would I love to do, and who would I love to be perceived as, with the kind of value I know I have in me to provide?
I know that the answer to this question may change depending on where I am in the moment. But right now with everything I have done so far and everything available to me, I feel that where I am I can make the most contribution by helping the Global Entrepreneurial movement forward. I would like to be perceived as a positively influential leader who is making a difference in other entrepreneurs life and empowering them so that they can also make a more impacting positive change in the world.

You touch on so many key points here. When one can be driven by passion, it comes from the heart & becomes real.

Hi Didi,
Thank you! Sometimes I read to much about – just go, go, go – BEFORE people put any time into establishing a base and knowing what their Passion is! Knowing where to start and what to do next comes from know and living you passion as an online business.
Crush It is the best book I have read to date on this very topic. A must read if you are even considering an online business.

Samantha, yes your passion and knowing it is the foundation to getting started in the right direction online. Because you may succeed to a point in doing something you are not too passionate about, but you won’t feel emotionally and spiritually satisfied and always have a feeling of discomfort something that would be pulling you toward doing what you’re really called to do. So you’re going to have to start all over again, or never live your passion. Which would be truly sad and unfortunately reality for a huger percentage of our World! Yes, Crush It simple but to the point! Live your passion online and make it profitable. Now you absolutely can!

Hi Diyana,
you are offering great questions in order for us to explore our purpose, our deep rooted WHY. If we don’t answer these question and operate without knowing our WHY we’re always looking for an easier HOW to – even if our HOW to is already easy. Keep up your great work and being so open.
Take care
Oliver

Hi Oliver, yes finding ones purpose is truly empowering because then each day has no other way to be looked at, except as a beautiful blessing. When you are living your purpose, doing what you love and loving what you do, you truly live life the way you should, and you empower yourself to create results in whatever the endeavor is because any emotional resistance is gone from the way.

Knowing your passion and going with it, is truly most empowering. Having toyed around with some interests that weren’t my passion kept me sidetracked for awhile. Now I know. One suggestion that hit me when I heard it was “What can you talk about all day long and never get bored of.” Thanks for your great post and I will go over the questions again for my own refresher. Crush it, is a great book!

Hey @Holly, thanks for sharing. Sometimes we have to go through and do what’s wrong for us to realize what we really are supposed to be doing. What have you discovered is your passion?
@Richard, you are totally right! That’s the next piece of the puzzle. Is your passion actually monetizable, and if not what could you do that can still integrate your passion but allow you to make money and live an ultimately financially free and fulfilling life by doing what you love? With the example you gave and the mystery books, it sounds like you might have just started with the wrong monetization method for it. It doesn’t mean that talking about mystery books is not monetizable in some way. But you are right your passion and how you are monetizing it should be in congruency and seems like mystery and health and wellness are a bit unrelated.
@Valentino, thank you for your contribution. This is a great idea. You are absolutely right. A lot of people out there are stuck with the mindset that they don’t know what to talk about, when if fact all of it is inside of them. If you passion is fishing, you can teach people your favorite fishing technique, you could talk about different kinds of finishing locations – lakes, rivers, etc. You can talk about your adventures and trips when you go fishing, or why you love fishing, what feeling it brings you when you are fishing…and so much more. And this really relates to any passion out there.

Getting started is such a big issue! I would take many books to address it well. And yes, knowing where you are yourself – and your passions is a very important part. Of course that is your topic here today and you covered it nicely with the questions you can ask yourself and illustrative answers. Another part you may want to write about is exploring the monetization of your “passions” or interests. I am well aware of examples in my life and that of others where they launched out on their passion – but it flopped because the congruency to monetization was not there. I started a blog about my passion for mystery books, as an example, and thought it could lead people to my health and wellness MLM – how foolish was that!

Hey DiDi,
Your questions are right on point. Asking yourself these questions and honestly answering them goes a long way.
In addition to really knowing yourself and your passions, answering these questions gives you content to talk about whether it’s on your ‘About Me’ page, profile page on your various accounts, etc. It helps give you category ideas when targeting your audience in your niche.
Great stuff!
